MONZA'S ENGLISH HOLIDAY
(Freely adapded from: "Monza's English holiday" by Julie Ashworth and John Clark,
Paperback Longman 1992)
HELLO, MY NAME'S MONZA. I COME FROM PLANET MARS, THE FOURTH PLANET OF THE SOLAR SYSTEM.
I GO TO SCHOOL AND I STUDY ENGLISH AS A SECOND LANGUAGE.
IN MY SPACE SCHOOL THERE IS A COMPUTEACHER AND THE CLASS IS VIDEO-CONTROLLED.
MY COMPUTEACHER HAS SENT A SPACE MAIL TO MY PARENTS:
TRANSLATION: "MONZA IS VERY BAD AT ENGLISH. PLEASE SEND HIM TO LONDON ON PLANET EARTH.
GOODBYE"
SO I MUST GO TO PLANET EARTH ON BOARD OF MY FLYING SAUCER. I'M SCARED, BUT MY PARENTS PAID A LOT OF MONEY (???) FOR THE COURSE AND THAT MEANS: "THERE IS NO CHOICE".
I FLY THROUGH SPACE...
I FLY OVER LONDON...
...AND AFTER A LONG JOURNEY, I LAND AT HEATHROW AIRPORT IN LONDON.
AT THE AIRPORT I MEET THE FIRST TERRESTRIALS... THEY ARE REALLY STRANGE!
MY HOST FAMILY IS WAITING FOR ME. THEY ARE FIVE TERRESTRIALS AND AN ALIEN PET
(THEY CALL IT "DOG").
DEAR MUM AND DAD,
TERRESTRIALS ARE NICE AND FRIENDLY, BUT THEY ARE STRANGE:
THEY TRAVEL IN BOXES...
THEY LIVE IN BOXES...
AND THEY LIKE WATCHING A TALKING BOX!
ALSO THE SCHOOL IS A BOX... BUT THE TEACHER...
...THE TEACHER IS LOVELY!!
MY CLASS FRIENDS ARE NICE TOO.
TODAY THERE IS A GUIDED TOUR IN LONDON... HURRAY!!
I'M ON THE WAY BACK: MY ENGLISH IS BETTER AND I HAD A GREAT TIME ON PLANET EARTH.
I'VE GOT SOME SOUVENIRS FROM LONDON: A BLACK HAT, RED SHOES, A FLAG, A MAP...
GOODBYE PLANET EARTH!
...
BY THE WAY: IF YOU COME TO MARS, PLEASE BE MY GUESTS!!
THE END
